In a remarkable display of creativity and advocacy, Kimberly Estrada, a 4th form student at
Sacred Heart College (SHC), earned 2nd place in this year’s national digital poster competition
focused on raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) in Belize. The competition,
part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, invited students
across the nation to create impactful digital posters that highlight the importance of equality,
human rights and safety for all genders.
This year’s theme, NO EXCUSE, called on participants to engage in meaningful conversations
about social justice and personal responsibility. Kimberly’s poster emphasized this powerful
theme, effectively addressing the urgent need to combat GBV and promote accountability within
communities.
Her achievement not only showcases her artistic and technological skills but also her dedication
to advocating for social change. The competition, now in its 33rd year, serves as a crucial
platform for young voices to contribute to important discussions in their communities.
Kimberly received a tablet along with a gift package as part of her prize, further motivating her
and her peers to continue the fight against gender-based violence. As Belize continues to address
this critical issue, students like Kimberly play an essential role in shaping a safer and more
equitable future for all.
SHC is proud once more of the great success of yet another student earning a Remarkable
Highlight!
